Shall we be reminded of the Establishment Clause?
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"
The free exercise means that you can hold your NDP events anywhere you want, except for government buildings, as that would be respecting an establishment of religion, especially one over the others.
Here is a list of events happening here in Texas:
http://www.ndptf.org/custom/events/eventSearch/index.cfm?blnCoordinator=0&action=search&state=TX including an all-day Prayer and Bible Study in the Capitol Building in Austin.
Ugh.
On the other side of the spectrum is the National Day of Reason
http://www.nationaldayofreason.org/index.html
Here in Texas, the Atheist Community of Austin is holding a counter-rally at the Capitol Building: http://www.atheist-community.org/news/news.php?id=86
Non-theists are using this day to promote Atheist Blood Drives: http://www.atheistvolunteers.org/node/20
"'While religious people are on their knees, we atheists will be on our feet, giving a part of ourselves for the benefit of humanity,' says Kenneth Bronstein, founder of the Center For Atheism."
If you are able to, please donate blood today. Wear your Atheist shirts, buttons, and pride. Let them know who you are and why you are there.
